Why StockDCA exists
Investors often make several purchases at different prices and then struggle to understand their true average cost, current position value, or potential result from a sale. StockDCA was created to make those calculations quick and easy to review without requiring an account or spreadsheet.
How the calculator works
The StockDCA calculator uses the purchase prices and share quantities you enter to calculate total invested, total shares, and weighted average cost per share. Optional current-price and sale inputs provide estimates of position value and profit or loss.
Editorial principles
- Explain formulas and assumptions in plain language.
- Use original examples that readers can verify.
- Separate educational information from personalized advice.
- Correct material errors and update pages when tools or explanations change.
- Clearly disclose important limitations, including taxes, fees, currency conversion, and investment risk.
What StockDCA does not provide
StockDCA does not provide brokerage services, portfolio management, tax preparation, legal services, or personalized investment recommendations. All calculations are estimates and should be checked against your own records before making a financial decision.
Our focus
The site currently focuses on dollar-cost averaging and stock cost-basis calculations. Additional tools may be added when they can provide a clear, practical benefit without making the experience harder to use.
