How to use StockDCA: Research, Calculators & Notes

Move from a company search to annual SEC facts, a source-linked reading plan, manual calculations, and notes kept in your browser.

Five steps · Updated September 13, 2026

Start with company search

The StockDCA workspace brings Research, Calculators, Compare, and Notebook into one place. It helps you inspect company information and work through your own numbers. It does not choose stocks or place trades.

Research

Find and verify a company

In the field labeled Company name or stock ticker, enter a ticker or part of the company’s official English name, then choose Search. Select a result and confirm both the company name and ticker before reading the report. Similar company names or tickers can be easy to confuse.

After the report opens, check the company heading and Latest annual period. A directory match only means StockDCA found the issuer. It does not guarantee that every financial metric is available, so read any coverage or data message shown with the report.

Evidence

Read annual facts, then open the filings

Start with Revenue & cash flow. The bars and line show annual financial figures in US dollars; they are not a stock-price chart. Read any Data note before comparing calculated figures. A missing point stays missing and should never be read as zero. Use View the underlying numbers or the Financials section to compare the exact annual period ends.

These figures come from annual filings. They are not live data and do not include the latest quarter by default. Open Filings, Recent filings, or a link in Source filings to check the original SEC document, its filing date, and its financial period. Filing dates and period-end dates answer different questions, so confirm both when newer reports exist.

Research assistant

Choose a question and build a reading plan

The Research assistant offers four prepared questions:

  • Review revenue growth in the latest annual figures
  • How did cash generation compare with last year?
  • What needs a closer look in the filing?
  • What should I ask next?

Select one, then choose Build reading plan. The assistant selects from verified observations and prepared questions tied to the loaded annual data, and it includes sources for checking. It is not free-form chat, does not select an investment, and cannot trade. It can miss important context, so use the plan as a route into the original filing. If AI is unavailable, the financial facts and filing links remain usable.

Manual calculations

Carry a simple purchase into the calculators

In Position planner, enter Purchase price (USD) and Shares. For example, 200 × 10 displays a total investment of $2,000; this is only a manual arithmetic example. Choose Open calculator to move those values into the Position calculator.

Before editing, confirm the company label above the calculator. Use the research-company control when you want the draft attached to the company you opened, or General calculation for an unlabelled scenario. If values already exist, StockDCA keeps the current calculation and asks before replacing it with Use planner values.

Calculators and Compare use only the numbers you enter. They are not connected to a broker and do not fetch a live share price. Refreshing the workspace clears these calculation drafts. For formulas, sale illustrations, and more worked examples, read the DCA calculator guide.

Notebook

Save a company note and export a copy

From a company report, choose Add to notebook. Once saved, that control becomes Open notebook; you can also choose Notebook in the workspace navigation. Write your observations or questions in the company note, then choose Save notes to store them explicitly.

Download notes (.txt) exports the text currently in the editor, including unsaved edits. Downloading does not save those edits back into the browser. Use the saved note for continued work and the text file as an external copy.

Notebook data belongs to this website in this browser. A local build, a preview address, and stockdca.com each have separate storage, and notes do not follow you to another browser or device. There is no cloud sync. Clearing site data can remove saved companies and notes, so export important text first. Notebook notes are not sent to the AI provider.

Common questions

When something is unavailable

Why can I find a company but not every metric?

Company search and financial coverage are checked separately. Reporting formats and available SEC facts vary, so StockDCA leaves unsupported values unavailable instead of filling gaps with zero.

What can I do if the Research assistant is unavailable?

Continue with the annual chart, Financials, Filings, and original source links. The assistant is optional; its availability does not change the underlying report.

Where are my notes saved?

They are saved in browser storage for the exact site you are using. StockDCA does not currently sync them to an account or restore a downloaded text file automatically.
